Through his experiments with compressed air and sound amplification, Nathaniel Baldwin was able to make the first headset, which was afterward sold to the U.S. Navy. Headsets were timely introduced to World War I and met high praises for its contribution in building communication lines. But because it was bulky and heavy, the prehistoric headset was then pushed aside for more convenient hand-held microphones. It was years later when headset underwent another innovation to correct its problem, through the combined geniuses of two aircraft pilots, Courtney Graham and Keith Larkin. With their intervention, headsets came to be lightweight and endowed with flight standard technology.
